Finally home, at least. it’s 7pm here but I feel like midnight, eyes closing and headache. Randa was a damn – fine experience for me, and for everybody that was on it. I worked like I didn’t had anything better to do for a couple of days, fixing over 45 bugs in the meantime. My beloved friend and Artist Alexandre Freitas took care of icons, not finished yet, but going to, also he’s doing the artwork for KDE – Edu logo and that gave me an idea for a better KAboutWidget, let’s see what I can implement for kde 4.6 ( a pitty that we are trunk-frozen , but whattahell 😉 ).

It was lovely meeting some people that I already knowed for a long time in irc like Sput and Nightrose.

not a long text today since my head looks like exploding, but just to finalize, KDE 4.5 will have a solid – rock rocs. and for 4.6 the plan is to take over the world with the best data-structure teaching program ever. first the universities, then, the world. =D

So, first coding day. in the morning we had an awesome breakfast then fastly we went upstairs, to the 4th floor and opened our laptopput it in the back of a red VW microbus, took shovels and rakes and implements of destruction and headed on toward the city dump. up there was the Multiemdia people with the KMix, Kdelive, Amarok, VLC, and others talking about multimedia, and also Apol, Me, Alexandre, Annma, Sput and such talking about edu stuff.

We had to drink a lot of bottled water, since programming is something that really tires a persons muscle, it had a funny taste and was a bit yellowish. I had to get proper water in the tap.

24 * 9 bottles of beer on the wall.

Konqui watches us allThe big brother watches us from his tower of wisdom.

the place where the hacking took place. =D

first day, 15 bugs squashed o/

So se woke up at Mario’s Shag ( and it was shagadellic ) just to discover that he had locked us inside. After poking around I decided to jump the window, and got amazed by the view:After figuring out a way to scape Mario’s house I went to the correct place where the meeting would take part, the biggest building in Randa:it took almost ten hours after I woke up for people to start comming, just after lunch. Annma, Nightrose, Nicolaj, and all guys from Amarok and Edu, we talked about groovy things, they had some free beer for € 3 ( because the free bear is free as in speech, not as in free beer ) and everything was good and the world was a better place and we all loved eachother till the next morning when the real coding would start.

Stay focused.

It started quite ok, I had a bug in my job that I had to fix just before going to the airport, didn’t fixed… I just got no time for losing the flight. took a bus and met

Helio with his brother near the bus station, then we moved torwards the airport with tears in our eyes walking our way to São Paulo, where we would met another member of the KDE team, Alexandre Freitas. As unusual as it sounds, the airport was not crowded and we just had to wait for a couple of minutes till everything was ok. we Had a Great Flight to Porto, Portugal.

Then things started to annoy… First there was about 120 persons in the plane and just 2 police officers in Porto taking care of the visas, and also 3 girls that worked for the Airport trying to put some order in the chaos, but the chaos was already made. our connection was just 1h after the arrival, but it took 40 minutes for us to pass the line and run for the plane. Luckly we didn’t bringed any luggage, just our usual hand-bags. I said luckily ? We lost the connection, I didn’t just lost the connection but but also my flight to London since I was going to get it in Genebra two hour after I arrived for a quick chat with some aquaitances in england. talked to EasyJet, but to remark the tickets I would spend 30% more than I already had spend buying it, and also talked to TAP and they said just ‘not my problem, we are not responsibles for the airport delaying you in the line’, and me? well, looks like I lost 126 euros, that’s more than 20% of my income. oh, well =/

Then I had a plan from Porto to Lisbon, and another to Lisbon to Genebra. In genebra we went to buy our train tickets:

“To Where?” – “Randa” – “Where?” – “Randa” – “Are you sure that this place does exists?” – “Pretty sure.” – guy does some search on the keyboard… – “Ah, yeah, it’s here, seems it’s 12h trip” – “WHAT?” – “Just Kidding, então, o preço é 120 euros cada.”, and he just talked portuguese with us in the Switzerland airport, talking about globalization…

We got into the train and the time passed by, in the last station Piercy, a guy from peru that looked like lost ( just as we where ) talked to us ‘KDE?’ and we all shake our hands, talked about groovy things till the train finally stopped and Mario Rescued us.

Nice things about Mario’s Shag:

  • Woody. everything woody is cool.
  • Cozy. everything cozy is cool.
  • Wirelessy. Everything wirelessy is cool.
  • Milk Soda. because milk is the new coke.

Hi there!

Three months has passed and there Dimpress 3D got his first cute face! We’ve developed a plugin structure and a plugin that describes a model for 3D presentations called Sliding Panels. The user interface needs a lot of improvements and we are working on that.In the next weeks we’ll present our solution in the college.

Here goes the svn: http://dimpress3d.googlecode.com/svn/branches/dimpressv2

Below is a picture that describes the process of using Dimpress 3D.

1 – Selection for presentation model.

2 – Definition of presentation content.

3 – Presentation Generation!

4 – Showing Presentation!

This picture is the interface provided by Sliding Panels:

There are few bugs we want to fix up, but the svn version of the above link is already functional.

Soon, we’ll post a video. =)

See you …

Wakey wakey… Eggs and bakey.

Creating art is something almost orgasmic, and for being this way it needs to be created entirely from the heart. You can’t just throw something on the paper or the blank computer screen and call that ‘art’ ( even with a lot of people doing that ). one of the great parts of the Akademy – BR event is that it still goes on, thru talks, friendships made in the first day and ideas on how to make the world a better place ( free icecream and freesoftware for the help ). One of the great ideas that came to my mind was a talk titled “Blackmail, Coation and Torture: Nice ways to bring your fellow colleages into Free Software”, and by trying to give a talk on that subject I needed to think like one, I needed to feel, so I got really drunk the night before, I looked and felt my best when I went in that morning.  `Cause I wanted to look like the all-American kid from New York City, man I wanted, I wanted to feel like the all-, I wanted to be the all American kid from New York, and I walked in, sat down, I was hung down, brung down, hung up, and all kinds o’ mean nasty ugly things. Then I came in, sad down and looked at those kids

The First One

And how did I blackmailed, Coated and Tortured them? Easey Easey.

And now they are proud members of the Promo Team, Hurrah.

Programação do Akademy 2010 já disponível May 12, 2010

If you live in another planet, you may not know who’s Chani, But if you live here you may know that she’s the girl behind plasma, mouse actions and lot of other stuff inside KDE.

Happy Birthday Chani
